1. SAMUEL MASSEY was born perhaps about 1670, perhaps in or near Bandon, County Cork, Ireland. Samuel married, first, Ann Coxins, February 6, 1690 in a Quaker ceremony at the Cork Monthly Meeting in County Cork, Ireland. Samual and Ann had one son who died young, and apparently Ann died sometime between 1691 and 1696. Samuel married, second, SARAH WIGHT, March 2, 1696, probably in Cork, Ireland. She was the daughter of Thomas Wight and Susannah Harwood.

2. WIGHT MASSEY (Samuel Massey1) was born in 1702, probably in Cork, Ireland. He left Ireland with his parents in 1710, bound for Philadelphia. Their ship was seized by the French and they were taken to Antigua. After a period of time, they finally made it to Philadelphia. It is unknown where in Philadelphia the family originally located. He married, first, ELIZABETH JONES, December 20, 1733, at the Philadelphia Meeting House. She was the daughter of John Jones and Elizabeth Fox. She was born about 1712 in Philadelphia and, according to Quaker records, died June 9, 1746 in Philadelphia. He married, second, Eleanor Taylor in March 3, 1760, in St. Michael's & Zion Lutheran Church, Philadelphia.

He may have been the Ebenezer Massy who was a witness for the will of Stephen Carmick, dated November 28, 1766 and proven August 3, 1774. He married JANE CLAXTON, December 27, 1773 in St. Michael's & Zion Church, Philadelphia. She was born about 1745, the daughter of James Claxton and Mary Sandelands.

He married MARY A. SMITH, October 20, 1886 in Philadelphia. She was the daughter of Thomas Smith, a silk dyer who emigrated from England to Philadelphia and his wife Fannie. Mary worked in a silk mill before she was married. In 1886, when he was married, he listed his address as 1037 York Street. In 1900 and 1914, they lived at 2822 North 9th Street. By 1921, he was living at the Y.M.C.A., 1011 West Lehigh Avenue. Charles T. Massey was a house painter. He and Mary had just one child.
